Dear Parents,

Welcome to Kindergarten. My name is Laila Sutar, and I have been teaching at Trent InternationalE School for six years. I have a Masters of Education from Houston Baptist University and have previously taught for Alief Independent School District.

I began teaching at Trent as a kindergarten teacher, and I am excited to be back. I believe it will be a fun and exciting year!

As we all know, our children benefit the most when parents are involved in school activities, so I am requesting that every parent try to sign up for school activities.

I also believe that communication is very important and at Trent, we ask that you don’t hesitate to ask questions. In kindergarten, the children will be taking home two folders. The red folder, which is the homework folder, will come home almost on a daily basis. The homework folder is due the following morning unless specified otherwise.

The yellow folder, which is also known as their Wednesday folder, will consist of their graded work for that week. There will be a signature sheet in both folders that parents must sign every time they receive the folders for acknowledgement. I will also communicate through monthly newsletters via email. The children are also asked to bring a healthy morning snack. We do have a water fountain but I suggest that the children bring plenty of water and juice to last them the entire day.

The children of today are our future so I assure you that I will do my best to make this a wonderful year. Be sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast before school.
